My name is Sue Swan, and I had the privilege of knowing Rosie for the past five years.

Our friendship began when our daughters became close friends, and over time, Rosie and I formed a meaningful bond of our own. She was a devoted mother and a resilient woman who faced ongoing health challenges related to her diabetes with quiet strength and determination.

Approximately 15 weeks ago, Rosie underwent surgery to have a fistula placed for dialysis. Unfortunately, she experienced persistent complications, including four additional surgeries and a serious blood infection. For the past 14 weeks, she remained on antibiotics while continuing with dialysis treatments. She was scheduled this week to have the problematic fistula removed and relocated to her other arm.

Rosie also suffered a heart attack in September of last year, which resulted in the placement of a stent.

On Friday, September 12, Rosie became severely ill and began vomiting frequently throughout the night. By Saturday morning, her condition had worsened, and her mother, Kathy, called emergency services. When paramedics arrived, her blood sugar was measured at 800. She was immediately transported to Condell Hospital, where she tragically went into cardiac arrest. Despite 90 minutes of life-saving efforts, the medical team was unable to restore a pulse.

All funds raised will go directly to her mother, Kathy, to assist with funeral expenses and to provide continued care and support for Rosie’s daughter, Brooklyn, during this profoundly difficult time.
