Rose the Rescue Dog Lifesaving Treatment

Date: 22ND NOV 2019

The below *script* was my Facebook status on Saturday early ours of the morning...

Unfortunately we are now in a much different, devastating situation...

Yesterday poor Rose started to go down hill, and to cut a long story short she has a gastric blockage, and requires emergency surgery to save her life. Obviously this is going to cost a lot of money, the vet has advised me this will be a MINIMUM of £1630...
We have already spent over £1300 rescuing Rose and getting her back to the UK, and unfortunately we are really struggling to raise these funds :(

Rose's journey so far has been heartwarming, please assist in any way you can, however small, to help us make sure Rose has the best chance of fighting this obstacle and coming out on top <3

Much love and thanks,

The Giles'

***Back in August on our annual family holiday in Italy we found a stray puppy...she was in a horrific state, full of ticks and fleas, and goodness knows what else.... She was so nervous, didn't make a sound and was just constantly trembling.... We took her back and bought some flea and tick treatment, gave her a bath, and Iolanda my dad and Shane even fed her from a bottle.... Everybody mucked in, and slowly but surely she started to come out of her shell. The kids gave her the name Rose OBVIOUSLY then we decided we wanted to bring her home to England ‍♀️ Sooooo we started the process of getting her a passport...BUTTTT... this would take time, and we needed to go home without her for the time being We all cried.
However, since returning home my lovely Grandparents have looked after her and continued to take her to her vetinary appointments for jabs etc to enable us to get this passport for her....

On Wednesday of this week, I set off on the journey to collect our Rose We had a long drive from Calabria to Napoli together, and even had a night in Sorrento last night before putting her on her plane this morning....

She was so brave, she went on an airplane all alone. I wasnt allowed to take her in the cabin with me, she travelled in the hold...and she has taken it all within her stride.

Tonight she was reunited with Ad and the kids, where there was lots of licking and playing....

Welcome to England your forever home little Rose Giles ***

*Daily update on our Rose *

Me, Ad & the kids are overwhelmed and eternally grateful to everybody who has contributed to helping our cause, whether that be through donations, or/and helping spread the page ❤❤❤

After not even 48 hours we are ALMOST HALF WAY to where we originally thought we would need to be!!!!! ❤☘ (The cost has however increased due to Rose having to have more treatment than originally anticipated by the Vets, but we will have a firm figure on this when she can come home).

But, we are getting there, and we cannot thank everybody enough.❤❣❤

*HOW IS ROSE?????*

Well, the vets allowed us a quick visit to see our little girl earlier this evening....

Despite all of the tubes, bald patches, stitches, bandages and painkillers she seemed in good spirits...miles ahead of where she was yesterday....

The hard part was leaving her there But HOPEFULLY it won't be too long before we can get to bring her home....

Many thanks, and all our love,

Beki, Ad, Travis, Iolanda, Raef, and of course Rose

*Daily Update on our Rose *

Yet another day has passed, and yet again me and Ad (and the kids) are in awe of all the help we have received...the total raised last time we checked, in just over 48 hours is £860, with means we are OVER HALFWAY THERE!!! (We now have the firm cost of her treatment, see below). We are truly and utterly thankful, overwhelmed, and obviously blessed, as is little Rose

*HOW IS ROSE??*

WELL.....

am sat writing this, with our beautiful little girlie on our knee!!!!! We were allowed to go and collect her this afternoon.... The vets decided she was ready to pitter patter her little paws once again... I think the decision was influenced greatly by from the minute she awoke this morning she was back to her playful little self...

When we arrived to collect her the ladies on reception were saying how they'd only just taken her back down stairs, she'd been sitting on their knees helping them out for the past hour......It took a good ten minutes for Rose to be brought up to us, and when they arrived they apologised for the wait, but explained everybody wanted to say goodbye to her, they'd all fallen in love, and they're going to miss her terribly....

Although she is so much better in herself, physically she is still VERY vulnerable. She has a good 8cm wound down her tummy, which goes right through to her stomach, so it is ESSENTIAL she rests over the next ten days to avoid any compromising the healing, and more importantly opening or damaging the wound

The rules for bringing her home are quite strict:

NO playing - All toys are all to be hidden
NO stairs
NO walks

As you can imagine for a 16 week old puppy, this is no fun. And since getting home it is safe to say Rose is NOT impressed with these rules AT ALL, however needs must, and on this occasion Rose, the puppy eyes and cute cuddles are not enough unfortunately....

She is also on four different sets of medication, but....we are a million miles away from where we were on Monday, and that is enough for us right now....

Today, we received the final cost of the treatment, which, in comparison to what we THOUGHT it may have gone up too, we were pleasantly surprised. The final cost was £1520.00

It is A LOT of money, however we are closer to the end figure than we are from where we started. And I now have the belief that hopefully over the next couple of weeks we can raise the funds. By this time Rose will hopefully have been discharged from the vets (she still needs twice weekly visits)an Rose can get on with her little doggy life....

So, please share our page (or this post) to help us as much as possible to help us get to that final goal...we are on the home straight...

All our love and gratitude,

Adam, Beki, kiddies & Rose
