dear community,
Huey sisters here, fundraising to support the creation and performance of our newest performance work, Trashflower. This transdisciplinary piece, developed during our residency at Counterpulse, premieres in September. While the residency provides a generous amount of production support and studio space, the monetary compensation is low, and we unfortunately did not receive the two grants we applied for. Your donation will support us in paying our sound artist a worthy fee, as well as paying our own artist fees (on our current budget we are making $7/hour for rehearsal). Any amount helps us find a little more sustainability and ease as we, along with so many others, navigate being artists living within the trap of capitalism. We know there are so many places and people that need financial care. If you have some dollars to spare we greatly appreciate the support.
In return you’ll receive * gasp * one of three (see below) 5x7 printed images from our photoshoot with Melissa Wong. It will be a surprise which image comes to you in the mail, and it will be accompanied by a cute handwritten note from yours truly.
we’ve found art making to be one of the only ways we know how to digest personal and collective tragedy and grief. as sisters making together, we are reminded again and again how we learn so much from our kid selves living inside our past, present, and future bodies.
with love and gratitude,
rose + zoe huey
