After 20 years behind bars for a crime he did not commit, Richard was released from prison on March 23, 2016.
In 1996, when Richard heard the police were looking for him in New York City he turned himself in and presented 13 alibi witnesses claiming he was 1,000 miles away in Florida at the time of the murder in which he was a suspect. Of these alibi witnesses is a pastor, a sheriff's deputy, and a federal correctional officer.
Despite giving police this information at the time of his arrest, none of this was investigated and Richard was convicted of a murder he did not commit based solely on false eye witness identification.
At the time of his conviction Richard was 21 years old and the father of a 1 year old boy and a 4 year old girl and for the past 20 years Richard has had to watch them grow up from behind bars.
Needless to say, Richard is delighted to be reunited with his family. However, he is understandably without financial resources and needs some money to tide him over until he is able to get a government issued photo ID and a job. If you could donate as little as $5 or $10 to help him get back on his feet, we know he would be so thankful.
The Rosario family will never get back what was taken from them by a corrupt justice system, but we can help make the transition from prison to civilian life a little easier for Richard by donating to his cause.
