Rosalyn’s Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Saturday my beautiful niece, Rosalyn White, was shopping for a wedding dress and by Sunday evening she was fighting for her life. On Sunday, January 9th, while driving back to Appalachian State University for her final semester, she was involved in a motor vehicle accident. Her parents received the phone call that is every parent’s worst nightmare. The SHP informed them that Rosalyn’s vehicle had collided with another vehicle and that they needed to go straight to Mission Hospital. Hours passed without updates. All we knew was that her injuries were extensive and that she was currently undergoing emergency surgery. The accident crushed her entire driver’s side trapping her in the vehicle. Initially, the Trauma Surgeons were faced with a ruptured bladder, a hole in her liver, a torn diaphragm, and extensive internal bleeding. After many scans the surgeon determined that Rosalyn also had a tear in her aorta, the main artery to the heart. They also determined that her pelvis was fractured. After the initial surgery, Rosalyn was placed in ICU were she was heavily sedated and on a ventilator.
On Monday, she underwent heart surgery to repair the artery. She continued to remain unconscious and on the ventilator. On Tuesday, they determined that she had three breaks in her right hand, as well as, three broken fingers. They also went back in and checked on her internal injuries and closed her up. On Wednesday, they did surgery to repair the pelvis. The surgeon placed a screw in the fractured pelvic bone. They also determined she had two additional breaks in the pelvic bone. She continued to be sedated and on the ventilator. On Thursday, they were able to remove the breathing tube. Now the waiting begins. Her body hopefully will begin to heal and respond to commands.
Our prayer is that she will become coherent and she can begin to respond and allow the medical team to further assess the full extent of her injuries.
Rosalyn has a long road of recovery ahead of her. No young person should have to start their life with the worry of mountains of medical bills. If you feel lead please donate to help us ensure that she is able to walk down the aisle without the worry of medical bills. Your prayers and support have been a God send during this most difficult time. God has brought her this far and I know He is going to do great things in her life!

All donations from this fundraiser will go directly to Rosalyn’s savings account at the SECU.
You can also make a direct donation at any State Employees Credit Union. Make sure to mark your donation for Rosalyn White via savings account.
