Remember Rosalind Memorial Fund

Last year my mother quit her job and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada with plans to transition her family owned and operated catering business into a restaurant. She didn’t announce her move, she didn’t have a plan B, and she didn’t look back. She didn’t have any of the self doubt that stop so many of us from gambling on ourselves and our own success. What she did have was a vision, support from her family, and her faith in God, and if you know Rosalind that was more than enough for her to make the move.

Months later with her counseling she inspired me to do the same. I walked away from my career, left my comfort zone, and pursued my dream in starting my own company just as she had done. In her last months, the most important thing she taught me was to overcome my fear of instability, something society promises us if we invest years of our lives in college and follow the traditional paths laid out for us. This works for many people, but for people like Rosalind, traditional just isn’t good enough.

My mother fought through epilepsy, cancer, and multiple congenital disorders each morning to lay down each night having chased her dreams. At just 45 years old on July 14, 2015 her race is over and she is passing the baton to all of us. If you have’t already, start your race and do what makes you happy with those who matter to you the most.

Entrepreneurs live in the moment and through all of her ailments her passing came as major shock to our family leaving us in an absolute scramble for funds to celebrate the finish of her race. We are raising $6000 to have her transported from Nevada to Texas and hold a ceremony at our home church in Houston, TX. If you didn’t know Rosalind, but know anyone close to her, look deep into their drive, benevolence, giving hearts. Many of us can directly contribute it her from the joy and inspiration she’s given our lives. Let’s continue the race together. #RememberRosalind
