The Altar Society of St. Benedict Church seeks to raise funds to help a retired teacher and church community member. Rosalie Marquez dedicated over 32 years of service to our school, teaching multiple generations of St. Benedict families. 4 months ago, we became aware of her homelessness and discovered she had been living in her car. We also learned she had suffered three strokes, a car accident, and lost her housing. We began pulling resources together to find her temporary accommodation and have been connecting her to social service programs that focus on helping vulnerable individuals regain some stability. As you all know, homelessness is a public health emergency in our community. There are thousands of individuals needing to be housed. Finding her adequate and permanent affordable housing could take 3-10 years. We have also witnessed discrimination against the elderly, where landlords and property owners have turned her away. We hope you will find it in your heart to help by contributing to a fund that is helping subsidize the cost of her temporary room and board. We also ask if any of you have insight or links to affordable housing units; please let us know. No donation is too small. Please keep Rosalie in your prayers. May God bless every one of you. Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
