Hi, everyone. My name is Erika. My mom, Rosa Fuentes, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (MM) in September 2022. MM is a form of cancer within the plasma cells. The Multiple Myeloma was found during a month-long hospital stay due to spinal fractures and a tumor in her spine. My mom is so brave and her strong faith in God has helped her get through these past few months. My mom has completed four rounds of Chemotherapy, while wearing an upper body brace, and has many more appointments to attend.

 MUSC has planned a Stem Cell Transplant to be done in March/April 2023. This procedure is extremely important to us because, although there is no cure for Multiple Myeloma, this treatment is necessary for my mom to live a longer life without pain and a decline in her quality of life.

 We are raising funds to help ease the financial stress that comes along with fighting cancer. These funds will cover the portion of the Stem Cell Transplant and medications that her insurance will not cover. My mom will be hospitalized for 6 weeks and she will have appointments every day for 30 days following the transplant. The funds will also help cover her stay in Charleston, meals, and transportation. Any remaining funds will go to other cancer-related medical bills that she has incurred.
