My name is Marily Alvarado, I’m the oldest grandchild of the Alvarado Medellin Family. My grandmother Rosa Carmina Medellin was born on May 18, 1954, in Saltillo Coahuila, Mexico. On December 23, 2023, at 7:20 pm she was called to be with the Lord after a long fight with breast cancer. My grandmother is survived by her three children: Javier Alvarado, Juan Alvarado, and Christy Jamshedji, and her grandchildren: Marily Alvarado, Lesly Alvarado, Miguel Alvarado, Isaiah Orellana, Noe Alvarado, and Mauro Alvarado. The holidays this year look a little different for our family as we learn to navigate all the emotions her sudden loss brings us.

The last few months were not only difficult on her as a stage 4 cancer patient, but they were also very hard on her children as they tried to save their mother from this terrible illness that ultimately ripped her away from us. My grandmother spent the last two months of her life in and out of the hospital and the only solace we find in her sudden passing is that she is no longer in any physical pain. Those months took a mental toll on us as a family, they also took a financial toll on her children as my grandmother required 24/7 care. That is why I have created this page to in effort alleviate some of the expenses they are left to face, including her funeral services and some remaining hospital bills.

At this time, we ask for continuous prayers for our family and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any donations given via this GoFundMe page. We will provide you with an update here once her funeral arrangements are finalized later this week. Lastly, we ask that you hold your loved ones extra close this holiday season. Just like we’re holding on to each other.

Mi nombre es Marily Alvarado, soy la nieta mayor de la Familia Alvarado Medellín. Mi abuela Rosa Carmina Medellín nació el 18 de mayo de 1954 en Saltillo Coahuila, México. El 23 de diciembre de 2023 a las 19:20 fue llamada a estar con el Señor después de una larga lucha contra el cáncer de mama. A mi abuela le sobreviven sus tres hijos Javier Alvarado, Juan Alvarado, y Christy Jamshedji, y sus nietos Marily Alvarado, Lesly Alvarado, Miguel Alvarado, Isaiah Orellana, Noe Alvarado, y Mauro Alvarado. Las vacaciones de este año se ven un poco diferentes para nuestra familia a medida que aprendemos a navegar todas las emociones que nos trae su repentina pérdida.

Los últimos meses no sólo fueron difíciles para ella como paciente de cáncer en etapa 4, sino que también fueron muy duros para sus hijos mientras intentaban salvar a su madre de esta terrible enfermedad que finalmente la arrancó de nosotros. Mi abuela pasó los últimos dos meses de su vida entrando y saliendo del hospital y el único consuelo que encontramos en su repentino fallecimiento es que ya no siente ningún dolor físico. Esos meses nos afectaron como familia, y también afectaron financieramente a sus hijos, ya que mi abuela necesitaba atención las 24 horas del día, los 7 días de la semana. Es por eso que he creado esta página en un esfuerzo por aliviar algunos de los gastos que deben afrontar, incluidos sus servicios funerarios y algunas facturas restantes del hospital.
