Rory's Road to Recovery

Donation protected

Devestated is an understatement when receiving news that your one year old puppy was just hit by a car. Rory, our sweet little "bag of bones" has been in the ICU the past two days and needs all of your prayers, positive thoughts, love, and generous support.

Since day one, Rory stole our hearts. We came across her picture on a rescue shelter website and found out she was abandoned in Kentucky.  Paul and I knew a pup with those frolicking ears and the inability to ever sit still was the perfect one for us so we adopted her and gave her a forever home.

I have never admitted this publically but I will for Rory. Over the past few years, I was diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and suffered an eating disorder. Once Paul and I rescued that adorable little furbaby, it was as if all of the above became secondary and she filled my heart with so much love and hope.

Rory has continued to steal the hearts of others by becoming a certified therapy dog through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. I want people to experience the pure joy and happiness that she has brought to my life. Though we may have rescued her, I think she was the one who rescued me.

Now, Rory needs to be rescued again, but this time, she needs YOUR help. She endured minor and major internal and external injuries in the car accident which are currently being monitored at the ICU. Her jaw, teeth, lungs, abdomen, blood levels, are all of concern. The prognosis is not definitive but based on the diagnosis she has now, she is going to need more treatment and clinical work done.

CURRENT DIAGNOSIS
-Traumatic pneumothorax (collection of air in the lungs due to trauma) which required a Thoracocentesis (needle procedure to extract air)
-Contusion on the lungs with ruptered blood vessels
-Continued blood/fluid in lungs and abdomen
-Abnormal PCV blood levels in liver and spleen
-Fractured jaw/nose
-Broken, chipped, and lost teeth

Due to the initial local emergency consultation, the ICU/ER admittance, radiology images, clinical procedures, required monitoring, multiple pain medications, and post-operative consultation, we are looking at roughly $4000 dollars. The amount also includes the dental surgery she will have done in a few weeks. She cannot undergo that surgery until her lungs and breathing become more stable.

We cannot wait to get our bonkers little Rory Bones back home.

I will share updates on her instagram and we would love if you'd follow along, share our story, repost a picture, or simply send some happy thoughts this way. Everything and anything you do to support our bear means so much. We are committed to keep track of every name and amount on the donations so each will receive a proper and sincere thank you from our family.

Forever grateful,
Linds, Paul and Rory :-)
