Rory GOT Sean’s Liver!!!
Donation protected
He’s our son, brother, dad, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend. He could be your son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend. He’s been fighting a battle for his life for many years. Imagine receiving a diagnosis one day and with it a timeframe to the end of your life. An autoimmune disease is attacking his liver. An autoimmune disease is trying to cut his life short. An autoimmune disease is trying to take away his daughter’s opportunity to have her father walk her down the aisle one day. This disease is trying to take him away from everyone who loves him. Still he fights, his only hope at survival…a new liver.

After years of being told he wouldn’t be a candidate for a liver transplant because the damage to his liver was too severe, 2017 brought new hope. His team of doctors told Rory he could now be a candidate and his name was added to the list.

The list of patients waiting for a liver is long. Currently, there are 17,000 people in the U.S. alone. Rory doesn’t have that kind of time. Fun Fact: The liver is the only organ in the human body that regenerates itself. The search for a live liver donor began.

Rory’s (now favorite;) 30 year old nephew, Sean, has stepped up to the plate and been chosen by Rory’s team of doctors as his best match! Sean selflessly volunteered without hesitation. He lives in Arizona and has had to travel to Texas to attend days of grueling medical testing and did so with zero complaints. He reminds everyone who thanks him, “This is what family does"

Here’s the catch; Rory’s insurance will cover Sean’s surgery and a follow-up appointment with a doctor. After that, Sean will be left with no medical benefits. Sean is giving up his job due to the amount of time he needs off for the donation and recovery, thereby losing his insurance and income. Sean’s travel to Texas (flight & accommodations) are also not covered by insurance.

On June 5th, Sean will give Rory his second chance. We KNOW this is a turning point in Rory’s life. June 5th brings with it new hope. Our family has been through a rough year after losing Rory’s father/Sean’s grandpa. Knowing we get this opportunity to keep Rory in our lives has helped us hold it together.

As a family, first and foremost, we are asking for your prayers. We are so thankful to be surrounded by everyone with love and support.

Our family humbly asks for any donations to help with Rory's medical co-payments which will be thousands upon thousands of dollars and for Sean’s medical, travel and other expenses. It's a lot and we as a family are collectively doing our best. If you can help us on this journey of hope, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
