If you know Roper, you know he is one of the hardest working, fast hustling, blue collar guys around & If you REALLY know him, you know he's going to have a few choice words for me after seeing this post. ... Don't worry, I'll challenge him to a foot race later to settle this dispute.
Roper and his wife, Jeanette, are self employed and work side by side to support their family. Like so many self employed families, when one of them can’t work, everything comes to a halt.
Earlier this week, Roper suffered a severe injury in a freak, horse related accident, breaking both his tibia and fibula.
What initially seemed like a relatively straightforward recovery has taken a much more serious turn. Before surgery, Doctors discovered that Roper's oxygen levels were too low for him to safely go under anesthesia. This postponed the surgery and required him to be placed on a ventilator for the procedure. The doctors determined the cause to be a fat embolism, a rare but serious condition where fat particles enter the bloodstream and block blood flow.
They planned to move Roper out of the ICU today but Roper is now retaining fluid in both of his lungs and his Oxygen levels will not remain stable without supplemental oxygen. Doctors believe these are more complications from the fat embolism.
I know firsthand how quickly life can change when you’re self employed. Your world stops, but the bills don’t. I want to help ease some of the finances so Jeanette can focus on being by Roper’s side, and Roper can focus fully on healing.
Any donation, no matter the amount, will be helpful! If you’re unable to donate financially, please consider sharing this fundraiser or simply send a prayer their way. They could sure use them!
