Hi, my name is Veronica. I'm 10 months into recovery from a severe leg injury, now facing a second surgery, and currently struggling to stay financially stable while I heal.
Almost 10 months ago, my life changed drastically after a severe leg injury that required emergency surgery. What I thought would be a few months of recovery has turned into a long, difficult journey that I'm still navigating every day.
Despite months of healing, physical therapy, and doing everything I can to recover, my leg hasn't fully healed. I'm still unable to walk normally, and everyday movement and activities remain a challenge.
Now, I'm facing something I didn't expect - a second surgery.
Within the next month, I will need a revision procedure to help encourage my body to heal properly. This surgery will involve adjusting the current hardware in my leg and adding multiple bone grafts to help fill in a d fuse the gaps between the broken bones that haven't been able to heal on their own.
After this second surgery, I'm looking at an additional 3 to 6 months of recovery before I'm able to hopefully normal work and physical activity.
This has been incredibly difficult - physically, emotionally, and financially. Being unable to work consistently for this long has made it hard to keep up with basic living expenses.
To make things even harder, I recently lost my emotional support dog, Milo - my best friend for the last 13 years. Going through this next phase of recovery without him has been heartbreaking, and it's made this already long journey feel even heavier.
I'm doing everything I can to help myself. I'm continuing physical therapy, preparing to start aquatic therapy, and even organizing a plant sale this week to try to bring in some additional income and stay afloat.
But right now, we're in a very urgent situation.
Our most immediate need is $1,800 to catch up on rent and avoid the risk of eviction.
Looking ahead, we realistically need about $2,500 to get through the next couple of months while I prepare for surgery and recovery.
I know that's a big number, and I don't expect any one person to carry that. But truly - even $1, $3, or $5 makes a difference and helps us get closer to stability.
If a small handful of people are able to give even a few dollars, it would help us reach that urgent goal and relieve some of the immediate pressure we're under right now.
If you're not able to donate, sharing this page would mean just as much.
My partner Ben is listed as the beneficiary to help manage our finances while I focus on recovery.
This has been a long and humbling journey, and I hate having to ask, but your support truly helps me keep going.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for being here with me through all of this.
With love and gratitude,
Veronica & Ben
