On September 10, 2019 my daughter gave birth to her first child “Ruby Jade “.
Tuesday Ruby was born with her spina bifida and her esophageal fistula as expected. What we did not know and the doctors did not know (besides a suspected VSD which she also has) is the heart condition she has which was found right after she was born. So not only was she battling with what we already knew, she had a whole other huge problem to overcome. Her heart condition is called Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return. With all of these issues coming at her, the doctors were not sure of anything to even begin to make a plan. We have come so far since Tuesday though. Ruby is a fighter y’all. She’s out of surgery for the day today. She’s had 3 surgeries total since she was born Tuesday. So far she has had her spinal surgery which was successful and she has had her esophageal fistula corrected successfully. The first surgery Tuesday night was a precautionary (But extremely necessary) surgery for her breathing for the next surgeries on the next few days. She has done so great, and she is SO very strong. As of right now she’s stable and they are trying to let her have a break and heal and become healthier before they make anymore surgery decisions unless she absolutely needs them. She still has a long way to go and obstacles to overcome before we are out of the woods; however she has accomplished so much more than anyone could ever ask of her. She is definitely fighting to be here with us, and I am so proud of her. We are going to let her rest and heal as long as possible before anything else comes her way as long as her body allows it. Please pray that Ruby continues to stay strong and have no complications or infections that would make everything even harder. The doctors have been absolutely amazing. They have been performing heroic measures for Ruby because there was no medical book written for anything she has gone through all together like this. We are so grateful for their persistence and dedication. We are grateful for everyone who has supported us either here or from afar praying and loving on us.
Do to the circumstances it is costing mom and dad money they don’t have for hotel rooms, food and eventually gas. Ty is supposed to go back to work on Monday if all goes well. Ruby is facing another surgery soon and they want to be near her as much as possible considering Ruby’s time and day of surgery is up in the air. They are going to be traveling a lot in the months ahead. So anything you could do to help them stay afloat would be greatly appreciated so money is the least of their worries and they can focus on their baby girl. God bless you all and thank you .
