Root Healing for Mama Lana & Hodari

 

Hi digital community,

My name is hodari also known as adorie howard and dorien blue (they/them). I am a student of healing, creation and storytelling through dance, music, writing and martial arts. I am passionate about the ways we recover, protect and embody our essence with each other.

I'm asking for your support in helping me and my dear mama, Lana Khoe, as we are deep in our experience of healing and recovery alongside each other.

 

This past December, I experienced a mental health crisis and a re-traumatizing, violent encounter with the police while seeking medical and emotional support. After a series of events and a 30-foot fall,  I sustained multiple injuries including a back lumbar fracture and ankle fracture. I underwent major emergency spinal fusion surgery to prevent paralysis and further spinal cord damage. After spending three weeks in the hospital, I relocated back home, where my amazing community has come together to offer care coordination and comprehensive in-home support at this critical time of healing.

 

Shortly after this happened, my mami was diagnosed with stage 4 metastasized cancer after half a year of experiencing related changes in physical ability and pain. The largest growth is on the base of her sacrum, but the cancer has spread to her vital organs. She is currently receiving chemo and immunotherapy and exploring other non-traditional treatment options.

Mama Lana is a mama and protector to many. She has offered her medicine to Lanterman Developmental Center (formerly in Pomona, California) for disabled community needs and long-term support for over 20 years, the high desert Feed My Sheep food bank, and Primerica  financial services. Her love is felt wherever she travels, as well as her strong commitment to getting to the root of imbalance, wisdom of plant-based medicine and energetic healing.
