TREATED WITHOUT COMPASSION

A few years ago, I went in to get my teeth fixed for a giant hole in my tooth that developed from a filling falling out and taking some of my tooth with it.

The dentist and his staff was extremely mean and demeaning to me. They handled me roughly and it hurt, a lot. Even the nurse, who would snark at me and shove me a certain way if I didn’t move myself exactly as she instructed the very second she said it. She barely spoke to me and never looked me in the eye.

I felt like I was very small to them. I had no faith in them and the procedure they wanted to do would’ve cost thousands. So I did not go to the follow up visit to fix the tooth, and I hadn’t been back to a dentist since. It was very frightening and very expensive.

I have diagnosed anxiety and panic attack issues. I take medication (covered) for it every day. It was very hard, with my fear of dentistry already, to trust a dentist again with my care after that.

CONSEQUENCES

Now, that tooth hurts, a lot.

I finally, encouraged by my pain, tried another dentist. They were extremely kind and gentle with me, and I was so pleasantly relieved. They were patient, looked me in the eye and listened to my every concern.

But now, my tooth has an infection at the root. It needs a root canal to fix it and a crown to keep it from happening again. I’m shook and devastated by the cost of the procedure. I don’t have that kind of money to spare. But I have to get it, or I’ll lose my tooth.

Please. If you have any heart, please help me keep my tooth. I finally found a dentist who treats me with compassion, but my insurance won’t cover this procedure. They cover front teeth. They don’t cover back teeth, which took me completely by surprise.

I have another tooth I’m very concerned about, but unsure about that one yet. The idea I may have to incur this cost twice just put a knot in my stomach.

Thank you for what you can give. I was told it would cost me a couple thousand, and I don’t know with the root canal and crown together how above and beyond that will go.
