Root and Rise Nature School on Lummi Island

Dreams can come true!!!
For the last few years I have been saving, working, and planning to open a school here on Lummi Island. The school will have both preschool and after-school nature immersion programs as well as online nature classes and monthly teen/adult class offerings.
It has been a lifelong dream of mine to help children (and adults) connect with nature, create from nature, and grow into the incredible humans we all have the potential to be. I believe that when we are rooted firmly in our connection to the planet and one another, we can rise confidently into caring, purposeful people. Root and Rise school will provide me with the space to help make this possible.
We have the Yurt built and have the space ready, and I am hearing from so many about how much this school will fill a need for so many families here on Lummi Island. The community is ready! However (as anyone who has started a business knows) the start-up costs for transforming the space into what I am envisioning is daunting. I am hoping to have the school ready for Spring enrollment by March. This is an ambitious goal, but I believe that with the help of my friends, family, and community I can accomplish it!
The school will have mud kitchen, garden beds, forest space, and fairy trails, as well as the Yurt schoolhouse for story time and occasional indoor play and classes.
