Thank you for being here,
My name is Cristine (organizer), and I had the privilege of working with Roosevelt “Llamar” Freeman (Rosie) at Hawai‘i State Hospital. Many first knew him as a security that floated throughout the entire hospital, but when he transitioned into working on the floor as a Psychiatric Technician under an agency, I, along with so many others, got to see firsthand the effort and compassion he brought to his work and those around him. Roosevelt gave selflessly, always lifting people up with nothing but good energy. He spent most of his time at work, tirelessly, often taking on long back-to-back shifts, yet he still managed to lift everyone’s spirits.
On the evening shift of Monday, August 18th, 2025, tragedy struck. While at work, Roosevelt suffered a hemorrhagic stroke caused by a ruptured brain aneurysm while in a locked bathroom. A code blue was called, and staff rushed to break down the door as all the nurses on duty came together to try and save him. By then, however, he had already endured what must have been such a frightening and overwhelming moment alone. He was rushed to Adventist Health Castle Emergency, where he remains in the ICU fighting for his life. Despite every effort, it is with a heavy heart that we share his condition was too critical, and he was later pronounced brain dead.
Now, his mother, Nell Mitchell (beneficiary), who traveled far to be with him, is facing the unimaginable decision of when to say goodbye to her son.
We are raising funds to help ease the financial stress on his family, so they can focus fully on mourning, healing, and honoring Roosevelt’s life. All proceeds will go directly to Mama Nell.
Donations will go toward:
• Funeral Services
• Hospital bills
• Travel expenses for Mama Nell & family
Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. Your support means more than just money — Let’s stand with Mama Nell so she can grieve without added burdens. Let's all come together and show our love for Rosie. On behalf of his family, coworkers, and friends, thank you for your love, generosity, and prayers.
I’m hoping we can give Roosevelt and his family the beautiful service he deserves here in Hawai‘i.
