Hello, my name is Stephen Swift Bird I’m Oglala Lakota, and a full time student. Due to an argument with a former friend my roommate(who was not originally involved) has decided to break our lease without any conversation or work to resolve any problems and has only given me a 3 day notice before we have to be out of our apartment. I have no friends or family in town to stay with, and due to budget cuts I am only getting 20hrs each pay period so I have very little savings. Currently the only option I have is moving back to my family’s old house on the reservation, unfortunately because no one has lived there in over a year it’s become very run down, the front door is broken, a window is broken, there’s no electricity or heat, and in general it’s very messy. I can fix most of these problems myself however I don’t have the funds for any of it so I am asking for a lot of help to just reach the barest levels of livableness.

This money will go towards major necessities. A new door, window, a storage space to keep my things while I fix up the house and sleep in my car. The house has electrical outlets, but they’ll probably need to be replaced and I’ll have to pay to get it turned back on. If by some miracle all of that it covered and there’s money left over it will go to things like a space heater, a single burner gas stove, one of those really big refillable water bottle, maybe one of those metal tubs to use as a bath, and general supplies that may be needed that I can’t think of right now.
