Hi everyone, my name is Erika and I want to start off by thanking everyone for your support during these difficult times
What started as a normal day I ended up living in my worst nightmare. There was an explosion directly in my room which firefighters are still investigating but believe it is because the house had very old electrical wiring.
When I was downstairs, I heard the most heart wrenching sound that made my stomach instantly drop. Right away I wen't upstairs to check the other tenants room first checking mine last. I didn't see anything suspicious but kept hearing a fire alarm faintly in the background. When I got to the other side of the house and opened my room, half of it was already on fire and my life flashed before my eyes. I started screaming hysterically que habia un enciendo, a fire, & for everyone to get out while on the phone with 911 & also trying to save my cat. The screams, cries, and panic is something I'll never be able to forget
What felt like eternity, the firefighters finally arrived and had to break the roof to put it out, the damages to the upstair units are so severe I don't even recognize my childhood home anymore. Nonetheless, we are all blessed to be alive and glad that no one was hurt, this could have ended as a tragedy. I know not everyones situation turns out like this
Myself and the other 5 families that lived there are currently displaced. Mine and my moms room was directly affected so little to nothing was able to be saved, we lost everything
I am starting this fundraiser to help my family and the other tenants get back on their feet. We will all have to pay for housing relocation fee's, food, clothes, medications, etc. while taking time off work to figure things out. Absolutely anything helps even sharing this link will go a long way for us or providing us with websites/ resources to look into, just anything
Thank you in advance for anything you are able to contribute, this is not how we expected to start 2023 but I believe bigger and better are coming our way and see the light at the end of the tunnel
Ty,
Erika
