Rook's Recovery from Rocky Mtn. Spotted Fever & Ehrlichiosis
Donation protected
Dear community <3,
We are organizing support for Rook as they recover from acute cases of both Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Ehrlichiosis (two tick-borne diseases). Both infections are serious on their own, and in tandem they have severely tested Rook's immune system. Thankfully, Rook is in the care of several great doctors and specialists, and they have completed the recommended rounds of antibiotics and steroids. It has unfortunately not been a straightforward recovery, though, with neurological sequelae and a severe autoimmune reaction. They were also in the NC mountains recovering with family when Helene hit, adding more layers to the challenge.
The good news is that their main doctor does believe Rook will make a full recovery! But the timeline is unclear, and the medical bills from multiple hospital visits, an ambulance ride, and pharmacies are still accumulating. Due to the severity of the cases, Rook has been unable to work during this initial stage of the recovery. They're hoping to return to work soon (and miss everyone so much), but in the meantime, any community support for this health crisis will be so deeply appreciated!
And as always, thank you dearly for your continued support via prayers, groceries, love notes, songs, memes, etc.
