When it rains, it pours!
Sandy Creek Strong♥️
Hello, my name is Amanda Ward, and I have lived in Sandy Creek behind the Big Sandy Bridge for over 30 years. I am raising money to repair me and my daughter's home that was damaged by the storm that brought on the Sandy Creek Flood.
We were luckier than so many, that our house didn't have flood water inside from the Sandy Creek Flood in NW Travis County 4th of July weekend, but when the 20+ inches of rain fell in 24 hours, my kitchen ceiling fell. Rainwater came through the kitchen ceiling, making my ceiling sheetrock come down, breaking a large window, busting the sheetrock above the window, and spilling rain all over my floor. This was just days before my major abdominal surgery, that I was in the hospital for three days afterwards.
I was able to get emergency housing for the week of my surgery next to tbe hospital, and the surgery done. I am now out of physical therapy rehab, and trying to save what is left of our home. I am afraid we will lose the whole roof, if we dont start workingon repairs NOW. I am in need of getting my roof fixed at least. FEMA gave me $3,500 towards repairs. I am scared that the money from FEMA is not enough to start the repairs. My daughter is supposed to start her first day of school on August 13th. I have to have some kind of stability for her at home. She has already experienced so much loss and heartache with the passing of her best friend in this horrible disaster.
- I want to check my ceiling where it fell
- I need to get the large kitchen window fixed
- I have to have the sheetrock replaced in kitchen
_The roof had to have major repairs
This has been a life-altering experience full of tragedy and loss. Any help, prayers, and support are very much needed right now. Thank you so much from me and my daughter.
