Roof Crisis at Hollywood Book and Poster
Donation protected
Hi,
This is James Healey, owner of Hollywood Book and Poster. When my friend Eric Caidin died in 2015, my friends, Scott and John, longtime employees of Hollywood Book and Poster, asked me to help keep the store open and Eric's dream alive. We relocated to Burbank and after a 2-year test run in a small 400-square-foot shop, we bought a building on Magnolia Blvd. Last month, we opened the shop and began emptying out our public storage areas into the back rooms of the new shop.
When last week's storm struck, we were caught completely unprepared as the roof on the building began leaking from one end to the other. We moved fast to save as much vintage memorabilia as we could, but many boxes were too soaked to save. Worse yet, we now have to file a lawsuit against the sellers for nondisclosure of a clearly faulty roof. We'd only been open for 3 weeks when this calamity occurred, and simply aren't solvent enough to take on this lawsuit. Today, I'm reaching out to our loyal fanbase for any financial assistance you can offer. This decision was a difficult one, but the future of the store hangs in the balance.
Thank you for taking the time to read this plea for financial assistance. I cannot express how much your help is appreciated.
