On this past Tuesday, I woke up to a text from my sister, Haley, letting me know that our Mom's roof had collapsed. With a pit in my stomach, we began racking our brains to come up with ways to gather the money to replace the roof and repair the faulty septic system in order to help get our mom's home to a place where it is safe, healthy, and comfortable to live in again. 

Though she is an essential worker, she has been unable to work at full capacity due to Covid-19, her financial situation is tight, but she has always done everything she can to provide for us, and we are trying to do the same for her. In 2016, Tracy, our mom, purchased her own home in an effort to continue to care for us, run her business, and create a space where she can grow her gardens, care for our family dog and chickens, and enjoy the beautiful view. Unfortunately, this home has caused great stress, both on our mom and on us. Rather than being a place of peace, one problem after another has arisen, and we are finally, humbly asking for help.

Our childhood house isn't the home we grew up in, and nothing is quite the same as staying at mom’s. She goes out of her way to cook all allergy-free foods for us, has all of our favorite memories from growing up, and nothing can replace "kitchen talk" at mom's. If there is any way we can return her home to the place where we can all gather safely, we will do anything to have that again.

The total costs are unknown at this point, but the full roof needs to be replaced, as well as her entire septic/plumbing system. We are looking into grants to assist as well, but as it is a current emergency, we need to start somewhere quickly.
