Concerned, my mom and I rushed her to our veterinarian, who immediately referred us to the animal hospital. That’s when we learned the devastating news: Roo’s liver was in grave danger.

The cause is still unknown. It may have been something toxic she ingested, but despite thoroughly searching our yard, we’ve found nothing. The possibility that it was accidental—or even deliberate—is heartbreaking.

Today, five days later, Roo is still in the hospital fighting for her life. She faces potential liver damage or even liver failure. The doctors tell us she’s in good spirits and eating, but she remains in critical condition. Roo is on IV fluids to flush toxins from her system and is receiving antibiotics to fight infection. Her blood tests showed dangerously high enzyme levels, and every moment counts.

We are doing everything possible to bring her home. Roo is only three years old—still a puppy in our hearts. She is more than a pet; she is family. She comforts us when we’re sad or sick, brings joy to our lives, and has the most loving soul. Losing her would break us.
