The Ron Valento Family
Donation protected
WAY TO GO!! Thank you for your kindness in donating to the Ron Valento family!
So, now we wait for results from Ron's testing today. He's through 4 rounds of chemotherapy and each round has gotten progressively worse.
I don't know where Ron, DiAnn and Casey get the strength! I can't imagine how they do it... house payments, utility bills, food, school and sports fees, etc. And then, add in medical bills!!
Please pass this on! I will add an update after I hear from DiAnn. Currently, he's scheduled to receive 4 more rounds (4 more months) and potentially surgery.
If you can, please send this on through Facebook, Email and Twitter!
THANK YOU ALL!!!!
Ron Valento has served in public service for 20 years. DiAnn has been employed by the State of Minnesota for 15 years in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.
Ron and DiAnn and their son Casey have had many medical issues over the last 3 years.
Three years ago, Ron had a soft tissue sarcoma removed from his leg.
They did not get it all, so he had a second surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. This was 2 years ago. They also had to remove half of his quad muscles. He then had 5 weeks of daily radiation to make sure it was gone.
While he was recovering from the second surgery, their then 13-year old son was hospitalized in Children’s Hospital for 12 days. It started as pneumonia, then surgery to remove fluid between his lung and his chest cavity. That is when they found he had a fungal infection called Blastomyasis. DiAnn had to give him IVs at home twice a day for 5 weeks. He was then on a liquid medication for 8 months before he was totally healthy again.
One year ago, Ron’s cancer moved to his lung and he had surgery to remove 3 spots.
Now, one year later, there are 2 spots on his lung in the same area. He is undergoing chemotherapy and having many side effects. This may continue for up to 8 months.
The family has many medical bills that were not covered by insurance, with many more to come in the months ahead.
DiAnn has totally depleted her sick time, and is taking time off without pay. She carries the family’s insurance and is trying to at least work enough hours to pay the premiums.
Without a paycheck, they won't have enough money to be able to pay their mortgage, utilities, daily expenses, etc. And then, medical bills.

Ron and DiAnn have 2 sons, 1 daughter, 1 son-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law, 3 granddaughters, and 1 grandson. Ron is so proud of his grandchildren and loves playing trains with them!
Ron has been a coach for his son’s baseball team for years. He loves to spend time with the kids and help them develop and improve their baseball skills, as well as teaching them good values and sportsmanship. He loves spending time throwing the baseball around with Casey!
Ron and DiAnn have been advisors for an Explorer Post for 20 years and will continue to be there for the post, as Ron starts to feel better. He and DiAnn have taken the post to state competitions every year, as well as numerous national competitions. They were scheduled to go to Arizona with 12 Explorers this July, but cannot attend due to Ron’s treatments.
Ron is a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Little Canada. Ron and DiAnn and Casey have also been attending Eagle Brook Church in White Bear Lake since last fall.

I put $15,000 as a goal, but I know this will only be a portion of what the Valentos will be in need of.
If you know the Valentos, you know that they are a bit stubborn about asking for help. This is NOT them asking, I am asking for friends and family to give a little to lessen the burden for them. If you can't donate money, I know they would only ask for you to pray for them.
Thank you all!!
