The Mineo family is asking for assistance in the care and treatment  of our brother, son, and friend Ron Mineo. Together, mom-Peggy Mineo,  sister-Jennifer Mineo,  sister-Elizabeth Long, and brother-Chris Long have worked collectively to assist in the care and treatment of what has now been diagnosed as Renal Cell Carcinoma.

On March 16th,  Ron went to  yet another doctor's appointment concerning pain in his leg and back. What was thought to be Sciatic nerve pain turned out to be a tumor on his right femur. After further tests, the doctor's found the he has Kidney Cancer and it has mestacisized to his bone, liver, lungs, and lymph nodes. Since his diagnosis Ron has experienced the life altering news of having this horrible disease and his leg has broken due to the cancer weakening his bone. He had his right femur removed and  doctor's  installed a titanium rod and replaced his knee. He will have radiation treatment on his leg once he gains back his strength,  2 or 3 more surgeries to remove the large tumors on his liver, lymph nodes,  Lungs and possibly removing his right kidney.  He is Currently  being treated at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa.  Since Ron is only 43 years old, he has many good things going for him in his course of treatment.  This will hopefully assist to extend his life with quality and health for years to come.  The type of cancer he has is not treatable by chemotherapy. The team of doctors is currently working on a plan that will systematically remove the bulk of the tumors, shrink and kill the exsisting cancer cells  through radiation, medication, and new therapies with the intent to prevent new growth.

For anyone who knows Ron personally, he is a sweet and caring man, with a happy spirit and a strong will. He has worked for the same company for 17 years and all of his family who love him dearly.  We are asking for any assistance in paying his co pays, enormous impending medical bills, and additional living expenses while he receives treatment and is battling for his life.

Ron has a lot more to do in this life.
