Ronnie's Corrective Surgery Recovery Fund

Last November I was struck by a motorcycle while crossing the street. My leg was broken in two places and I underwent surgery to put my leg back together. Until this point, I've been living on disability while I've been focused on my PT and child care for my niece.

After consulting with my doctor, we decided it would be best for me to have a corrective surgery. My left leg is now significantly deformed and if I don't have corrective surgery, I'll develop severe arthritis later in life. I have also not fully regained the mobility I had before the accident despite consistent PT. I'm still using a cane and it's difficult for me to walk or stand for extended periods of time.

I'm reaching the end of funds I have available for my Disability Claim. I'm raising funds to help cover the cost of rent and other essentials as I recover from my upcoming corrective surgery.

I've been unsuccessful in taking legal action against the person who hit me. At the time of the accident, the person gave a fake name and the police office did not collect an ID. I've gone through 10 law firms and there's no way to find insurance for the person.

I also tried the CA Victim of a Crime Fund but the incident was not marked as a crime so no success there either.

My next surgery is scheduled for 9-22-25. I will need 4-6 months to recover.

For those who don't know me well:
I'm a artist and cultural practitioner living in Los Angeles, CA. I help to organize an annual gathering called the Two Spirit Xochipilli Ceremony (https://twospiritxochipilli.com/). The gathering was founded by queer elder, Xico Garza, and creates a space for healing and reconnecting with nature.

I also work to organize an annual showcase featuring queer BIPOC musical artist. The showcase, Exotic Fruits Festival highlights and supports non-profits in the LA area who work to serve BIPOC communities (https://www.exoticfruitsfest.com/)

I'd like to think I've devoted a significant part of my life helping to uplift and support marginalized communities. Please give whatever you can to support me on my healing journey.

If you made it this far, thank you for reading and I appreciate you!
