I was recently blessed with the pleasure of meeting Ronnie Yates, an incredibly talented musician and wonderful soul from here in Nashville.
October of 2020, Ronnie was diagnosed with Bile Duct Cancer. It started in his liver and Lytic Legions and has spread to the lungs, hip, chest wall, and up and down the spine area. Ronnie was given 4 to 5 months to live without chemotherapy. Ronnie has already surpassed the 4 to 5 months. He continues to fight daily, praying for healing throughout his body. His faith in God is very strong. Ronnie asked for prayers from everyone who reads this. He thanks you in advance.
As most are aware musicians don't make the fortune some believe they do and they most often don't have a way to get insurance coverage. I am reaching out to my friends and asking that you all consider assisting this amazing person in his time of need. Please help ease his burden and help carry his load.

Musical History
When you think of the words gifted-musician, “Ronnie D. Yates Sr.” ranks
at the top of the list. Ronnie is a Minister, singer/songwriter and multi-
instrumentalist, and a native to Nashville, TN. Ronnie plays drums, percussions,
keyboard/piano, and a little bass guitar. His powerful yet gentle voice will soothe
the soul and bring joy to the spirit. Ronnie comes from a long line of and musicians
throughout the Yates family. This includes his father “George Yates” a famous
guitar player who was an original member of The Imperials, and who also played
with Aretha Franklin, Sam Cook, Lil Richard, and Jimi Hendricks and the Drifters
to name a few.
Ronnie has since taken the reigns in a major way, and has performed or
opened for R&B, Jazz, Gospel, Country and Pop artists such as, The Manhattans,
Dennis Edwards from the Temptations, Al Green, Isaac Hayes, James Slater, Glen
Jones, After 7, Angela Winbush, Jesse Powell, Urban Mystic, Phil Perry, Stephanie
Mills, Pieces of a Dream, Jeff Lober, Joe Johnson, Michael Fair, Boney James,
Kirk Franklin, Beverly Crawford, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Debbie & Angie
Winans, Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, Shirley Caesar, Rance Allen, Andre
Crouch, Sandra Crouch, Darryl Corley, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Commissioned,
Albertina Walker, Barbara Mandrel, Pam Tillis, Billy Ray Cyrus, Garth Brooks,
Willie Nelson, Marcus Hummon, and Barry Manilow. If that isn’t impressive, we
don’t know what is.
Recently he has played drums for various local artists around town such as
Laura Vida, Minnie Murphy, Jazz Artist Tramaine, Gospel Superstar Bobby Jones,
American Idol - Jackie Wilson, The Council, and Angel Stanford & Elecoustic
Soul. Ronnie alone Regina Hockett and Dr. Churchwell, has now started our first
United Voices of Vanderbilt Choir her at Vanderbilt. He has worked at Vanderbilt
Medical Center for 11 years. Ronnie is a truly incredible all-around
musician/singer with the accolades to back it up.
