Estimates show that around 35 million Americans are hearing impaired, and this number is projected to rise to 40 million by 2025. Even more concerning is that the vast majority—a staggering 86%—of people who need hearing aids can’t afford to hear, even with health insurance.

My sister and her husband haven't had hearing aids in 20 years. They each have worked as many as 2 jobs to keep themselves above float and have done wonderfully. Despite their hard work they have never had the insurance (until now) to even consider hearing aids. Now that they both have insurance they have been seen at an audiologist and much to their surprise, they could hear! They could hear with the help of modern technology and a whole lot of money. Unfortunately they fall under the 86% that simply can not afford the hearing aids. With hearing aids, their workforce options would open up considerably.
