Ronda's Loving Farewell Fundraiser
Spende geschützt
As many of you know, Ronda came into the care of her family almost 7 years ago after a major stroke that left her with early-onset vascular dementia. At that time, it was recommended by the doctors that we put her in a nursing facility. But as a family, we decided to follow in her footsteps and take on the care role ourselves. Ronda was a dedicated caregiver most of her life, whether at a nursing home or for family, she stepped up to take care of others, and it was our turn to do the same for her. She was with Quincy in Sioux Falls for the first two years, and then came to live with me in the Twin Cities for the past five years. Although it's been a bumpy road, we have been right there with her for the ride. For every hard moment, there have been so many funny, cute, and endearing moments that exceed the hard times. She has been well-loved and cared for, something she certainly deserved, and we were honored to do.
Due to her vascular disease, she has had several more strokes over the years. On May 7th she had another stroke in the same area of the brain as previous strokes. It severely affected her ability to swallow, meaning she cannot live without a feeding tube. Years before she was in our care, she made a point of having conversations with us to let us know, when the time came, that she values quality of life over longevity. At this time, based on her wishes, the family has decided that it is time to let her go.
On June 12th, she was transported from Minneapolis to Centennial Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls. It's a wonderful facility that emulates a home setting. She is doing well and would love to see close family and friends.
She loves you all so much.
