Hello friends and family. Im Samantha, Ronda’s daughter. My momma is 67 yrs and has been diagnosed with stage 4 Head and Neck Cancer. This cancer is extremely painful and debilitating. Mom has a large tumor behind her ear and has metastasized to the base of her skull invading C1 C2 and C3 of her neck. Her pain level holds at a 7-10 chronically. Fighting for comfort has been a HUGE obstacle. Mom’s quality of life exists from the edge of her bed.
My mom resides in Medford Oregon. My home is in Dayton Ohio. When I learned that my mom’s pain was out of control leading her to missed Dr appointments, multiple trips to the ER and lacking the ability to properly feed and care for herself, I left Dayton right away. Uprooting my life including my job. My husband Jose is still home working full time. He is keeping the lights on and the house standing. We have taken the hit of losing my entire income. I have put as many bills on skip payments and deferment as I can. Those will only last a few months. I have run out of money.
My goal is to get mom’s pain controlled, renew her ID. Set services up in Ohio and bring her home.
There are a lot of ”In between’s” in this situation. A slow titration of heavy narcotic's to build up in the system. Immunotherapy. Oral surgery. Hoping for one round of chemotherapy prior to exiting Oregon. Offloading her storage unit which is an hour away. Multiple Dr appointments.
My daughters and myself are primarily caring for my mom. We are rotating shifts. Ride sharing. Meal prepping and doing our best to be a comfort and rock for my momma. My mom feels blessed beyond words. She praises Jesus in the midst of her suffering. She prays for others who are suffering worse than her. She has a very thankful heart.
Thank you for taking time to hear our situation. We know the One who anchors us! We trust the Lord in all he is doing and rely on him for our strength, comfort, healing and peace. Bless your Day~
