Ronda and Mike's Road to Recovery Fund

Donation protected

On June 18, 2021 Ronda and Mike were leaving their date night dinner when they were T-boned. Mike was the passenger and sustained a skull fracture, a lacerated ear and holes in the ear drum. He spent three days in the hospital and received stitches for the ear lacerations. Doctors believe the other injuries will heal with time. However, at this point, Mike is expected to be off of work for four weeks. Ronda was the driver and took the brunt of the impact. Ronda has a fractured left fibula, a fractured right pelvic bone, two broken ribs and a broken left clavicle. While her injuries won't require surgery, Ronda is still in the hospital. She has been moved to an inpatient physical therapy unit in Missoula, and is expected to spend 10-12 days.

Before this accident, Ronda had been battling issues due to a prior knee surgery. Earlier this year, doctors discovered that there were complications from her previous knee replacement surgery completed last summer. This would require knee surgery to remove the previous knee replacement and place a temporary spacer since a serious infection in the left knee was also discovered. This infection required a port to be placed in Ronda's arm so she could administer daily antibiotics. Ronda was on this antibiotic regimen for 12 weeks, and was not able to work as a substitute teacher during this time. By early May, the infection had cleared and Ronda had a second knee replacement done. During the time of the knee spacer surgery, Ronda was covered by Mike's insurance, but they had a high deductible. In May, Mike's employer changed insurance coverage to only cover the employee. Ronda had to find her own insurance. Due to insurance costs, this also resulted in a plan with a high deductible.

When the accident occurred, Mike and Ronda were still paying out of pocket expenses associated with the knee (deductible, travel to Missoula, physical therapy, etc). Auto insurance will only cover $5000 per person for medical expenses. Between medical and travel expenses related to Ronda's knee and the car accident, Mike and Ronda will be left owing approximately $20,000.

The Bridgmans have helped many people in similar situations and are both active in their community. This fund is to help support our friends during this extremely stressful time. We understand that everyone is not able to donate, but please consider sharing this post in hopes it will spread awareness.
