Our beautiful son, Ronan James Mattis Neave, was born Tuesday, July 7th, 2015 at 1:10pm at 6.7lb, 20.25 inches.  When he was born, his little, perfectly formed and healthy lungs would not inflate and he did not take his first breath. Our perfect son started to turn blue and was whisked away by a team of nurses and doctors so they could try to stimulate him to breathe. When he still did not take a breath, they were forced to intubate our little man. From there, he was transported by ambulance and a special transport team to the highly specialized NICU at Memorial Central Hospital.

Ronan was without oxygen for approximately 20 minutes and sustained severe brain damage throughout his entire brain and will not survive without constant medical intervention. Currently he is off the ventilator and being constantly monitored, his secretions sucked out, and on oxygen for comfort. 

My husband and I have received the opportunity to bring our son home on a long-term hospice and palliative care basis. This is where beautiful Ronan belongs, and if God chooses to take him to Heaven, where he should quietly pass away.
