Donation protected

Ronald E. Kindig, 69, died Tuesday, November 11, 2015, on Veterans Day, at York Hospital.

The family of Ronald Kindig has created a memorial fund in his name. Any contributions made will be given to his wife, Diane to help defray medical costs the family has accrued as a result of various medical complications.

Born on October 13, 1946, in York, he was the son of Charles and Pauline Kindig and the husband of his loving wife, Diane Marquette-Kindig.  They celebrated their second wedding anniversary on October 17, 2015.

A veteran of the United States Navy, Ron served in submarine reconnaissance as a sonar 2nd class petty officer on a P3- Orion aircraft in the Aleutian Islands. He received his last payroll check on December 20, 1970, four days after his official discharge from the service.  Four days after that, on Christmas Eve Day 1970, he was a passenger in a tragic automobile accident that left him paralyzed for the remainder of his life.

Despite his physical disabilities, Ron was a caring, sensitive person. By his sheer will, he survived numerous, life threatening illnesses.

In addition to his wife and mother, Ron is survived by his brother—David Kindig of San Diego, CA—and his sisters—Lisa Burchell of Saratoga Springs, NY and Carol Cope of Santa Barbara, CA. Ron is also survived by his stepsons and step grandsons: David Billet of Dover, PA, Daniel Billet of Holly Ridge, NC, Aaron Billet of Red Lion, PA, Damien “Bubby” Billet of Dover, PA, and Josiah Billet of Dover, PA.

On Saturday, November 14, 2015, a private celebration service will be held for family and friends at the chapel in Country Meadows.   Burial will be held at a later date.
