If you’re here, you likely know Ron Salgado is no longer with us.
Diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer in March, his battle wasn’t long and he passed peacefully at home on July 12th. His departure leaves us with sadness, we are glad he’s no longer trapped in a failing body, and celebrate his reunion with Deb and other loved ones who have gone on before him.
I’m Cassie, Lizzie Salgado’s new guardian. I’ve know Lizzie for about 15 years and have cared for her many times in the past. Ensuring Lizzie was provided for was Ron’s central concern in life, and he was very relieved to hear me accept his request to care for Lizzie. I’m glad to say that she is handling Ron’s loss well — she’s grieving in her own way, but overall is acting in what is her own normal. She is already calling me “mommy”! The family has suggested creating this fund to give Lizzie a gift that’s probably the most important thing to her — trips to Disney.
Disney is a huge part of Lizzie’s life, she went there all the time with Ron and Deb, and with other friends using their season passes to get them in. This fund is set up to help give Lizzie something she loves, continuing a tradition and a way to remember both of her parents. All monies collected here will go into an account to be used exclusively for Disney trips and Disney-related events.
Thank you for honoring Ron’s life and memory by making sure his daughter will continue to find joy in this way.
