In Memory of Ronald “Ron” Schutten

Ronald "Ron" Schutten, or as many of us knew him as PawPaw, fought a long 8 month battle against two cancers. He went through several months of chemotherapy and then several weeks of radiation just to be able to undergo a Whipple surgery. He made it through the surgery, but unfortunately developed sepsis the day before he was to come home. After a week in the ICU he had one final good day with his wife, Connie, and then things took a tragic turn. Sepsis turned into multiple organ failures and his body just couldn’t fight anymore. Ron was surrounded by his family on February 5, 2025 when he took his final breath and found eternal peace with God.

Ron was a hard working, dedicated, loyal husband that allowed his wife to fulfill her dream of watching and helping raise the grandchildren. He worked sometimes 7 days a week, putting in an extra 20 hours a week at times. He could have retired at 67, but he had a goal of paying off the house as the sole provider of the household. He was 69 when he passed, a few years short of achieving that goal. Ron always did what he could for others no matter what it was. He is a light that will be missed by many.

Connie and Ron met each other after both being married twice before. Some have said third time’s the charm, but others like to think they were soul mates. Connie liked to call him Ronnie, so it was only fate they ended up together. Connie sat front row to Ron’s cancer battle, driving him to his doctor appointments, chemotherapy treatments, and spending almost every waking hour at his bedside in the Froedtert Center for Advanced Care and Froedtert ICU during his 3 and a half week stay at the hospital. Connie spent the better half of these last 8 months, not only caring for her grandchildren but for her husband as well. Ron’s greatest joy in life was becoming a PawPaw to his grandchildren and watching his wife’s dream come true.

Connie is the most generous, caring women and she would never ask anyone for help. She has always stepped up for her children, grandchildren, friends, neighbors and family. She has always done it out of the kindness of heart, not because she wanted something in return. This is the kind of woman she is.

Any donation would help Connie in this unimaginable, tragic time with accumulating medical bills, end of life expenses and loss of income.

Thank you to everyone who is able to donate, spread a kind word or prayer to Connie and the family.
