Ronald De Pace Memorial Scholarship Fund

The primary objective of the Ronald De Pace Memorial Scholarship Fund is to support students in Florida Union Free School District. It will be awarded to deserving seniors sharing Ron’s passion and following his path towards education. The size and duration of the scholarship will be determined by the available funds.

Ron was passionate about education. He got his Bachelor’s Degree at SUNY Oneonta where he met his wife. He then proceeded to get his Masters at Fordham University. His teaching career began at Little Britain Elementary School in New Windsor, New York. He ended his career as Principal for 17 years at his beloved Golden Hill Elementary School in Florida, New York.

Ronald (Ron) DePace, died on July 2, 2023 peacefully at home in Athens, New York. He battled Lewy Body Dementia for many years. He was born on April 27, 1954 to Sophie DeGennaro DePace and Oliver DePace. He is survived by his wife Laura Lucania DePace, son Mark DePace, daughter Lisa Thompson, daughter-in-law Kate Treacy, son-in-law Brian Thompson and three beautiful grandchildren, Macklin DePace, Sadie Thompson and Carter Thompson.

A Memorial Mass will be held in his honor on July 10, 2023 at 10:30 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 80 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, NY. There will be a visitation at the church starting at 9:45.

Ron's family has established the scholarship in lieu of flowers. All funds from this GoFundMe campaign will be transfered to the Florida Union Free School District.
