As some of you may already know, Ron Phippen is very sick. Just before Christmas he started having stomach pain that eventually led him to the ER. After days of hospitalization and diagnostic testing he was diagnosed with a genetic autoimmune disease that is attacking his liver. Deteriorating rapidly, he’s now in ICU awaiting a liver transplant. If the liver transplant is successful, it will be a long road to recovery for Ron and it is doubtful that he’ll ever work as a Correctional Officer again.

Ron has worked as Correctional Officer for 19 years at Mission Medium Institution. He’s the father of two grown daughters that he loves with all his heart. An avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast, he spends
his free time sharing in the natural beauty of our great outdoors.

Just before being hospitalized Ron and the love of his life, Lori, bought their first home together. From the excitement of starting the next chapter of their lives to Ron being in and out of consciousness fighting for his life. He never even got to sleep one night in their new home.

As I’m sure you can appreciate, Ron has a very difficult road ahead. Not only is he fighting for his life, the financial burden through his recovery and decreased pay will be a tremendous challenge for him. I and many of his colleagues wanted to start this fundraiser as a way to take away some of that burden.
