Check out Ron's Sound!
Hello, my name is Alyix Phillips and I am the head director of this project. We are raising production funds for a documentary about legendary San Francisco Blues Artist Ron Thompson. I had the pleasure of knowing Ron, talking with him about music, and seeing him perform live. What Ron knew about the blues couldn't be taught.
Ron Thompson was a rhythm and blues legend from the San Francisco Bay Area. He was a great influence for many musicians in the Bay Area and beyond. He played with the greats including: John Lee Hooker, B.B King, Big Mama Thornton, Etta James, ZZ Top, Huey Lewis, Mick Fleetwood and many more.
Ron grew up in Newark, California. He got his first taste of playing for an audience, other than family, by playing high school dances. He was playing Bay Area night clubs before the age of 18 by lying about his age to get in. Audiences loved him!
This project will share the life and times of an authentic bluesman. It will contain clips of his performances, clips from old interviews, and interviews of his former band members, friends, record producer, manager and caregiver.
These funds will be used during production to help cover travel expenses, crew costs, post-production sound and graphics, and marketing costs.
Thank you in advance for your support!
