- Hello, I am raising funds for my great friend, Ron Strachan, engineering colleague, and one of the kindest, most intelligent and generous man I've had the pleasure of knowing since we met in 1997. Soon after we met, Ron Strachan retired from engineering and referred all of his clients and friends to me when I opened my professional engineering business in 1999. He then opened his gunsmith and leather works shop on Fresh Pond road, Ol' Henry's. He had been the "go to" civil and structural engineer on the Outer Banks for a decade or more, working out of his office at his home in Nags Head Cove. He turned 90 years old in February 2022 and always has a great story to tell and still loves to work with leather and handmade jewelry, play the harmonica, and enjoy life to the best of his ability. He recently has been in the hospital having several issues taken care of and this particular time, he finds himself needing full-time nursing care. He told me last week that he wouldn't be able to go back to his home in Jarvisburg, NC. He will be admitted to the Barco rehabilitation nursing facility tomorrow, January 18, 2023 for a few weeks and then he would like to go back to Nags Head to the Britthaven Nursing home, now owned and operated by Peak Resources. He will be able to get the care he needs and wants, and be close to his daughter, Ronda, who still lives in Nags Head and close to his son, Kevin. I'm sure that Ron has touched your lives in one way or another, as he has mine now for over 25 years. Whether he has helped you with an engineering project, helped you fix or buy a rifle and/or pistol, or hand-made a holster, bracelet, guitar strap, or necklace for you or your loved one, I know that he has had an impact on many of us here on the Outer Banks. Please help me and Ron's family take care of him the way he has always taken care of us. Thank you for your generosity and support for such a wonderful person. We love you Ron, get well soon.
