Ron Peckham support after aneurysm & stroke

We are asking for your help: our beloved grandfather, father, husband, and friend - Ron has experienced a major medical emergency. Ron suffered a subarachnoidal hemorrhage the evening of Wednesday, August 4th. He was air-lifted from Rice Lake, WI to Eau Claire, WI. In Eau Claire, he was stabilized before being medevaced to Marshfield, WI.

It was in Marshfield that we learned that Ron suffered from a severe brain aneurysm rupture and major brain bleed, and two coinciding cardiac arrests. It was in Marshfield that we also learned that there was just one opportunity for a chance at life; UW Madison Hospital is home to a newer and life-saving neuro-surgery that is able to treat the incredibly rare aneurysm that Ron has. So, Ron was taken by plane to Madison, where he again faced a medical emergency by suffering another aneurysm rebleed that led to this life saving surgery being performed under emergency conditions.

We are so grateful that the surgery went well, but Ron has a long road to recovery. He is deeply sedated and has just begun opening his eyes, giving thumbs up, and nodding in response to questions. We keep praying for him to improve from his critically ill condition, as he remains in Madison at the UW Hospital neuro-ICU. He has faced many medical complications and setbacks during his time in critical care, but healthcare heroes are giving the best care possible here at UW Hospital. Ron will likely need to transfer to a rehab center that specializes in brain injury, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and will need support from friends and family as he makes steps on the road to healing.
