Recently updated- to share more of our story...
Hi, my name is Tracy and my husband Ron was recently added to the liver transplant list.
Ron's journey started about a year and a half ago. He was at work during his first high ammonia episode. (High ammonia can cause confusion this is called Hepatic encephalopathy) He left work early and drove 45 minutes home, in a very confused state. When he got home, I noticed right away something was wrong and took him to the hospital. At this point he couldn't remember who I was or his name. This was the start of Ron's Hepatic Cirrhosis- due to nonalcholic fatty liver disease journey. This hospital stay lasted 2 weeks.
In January of 2021- Ron was diagnosed with Hepatic Cirrhosis- due to nonalcholic fatty liver disease
In March of 2021, Ron had a stroke.
In July of 2021- Ron was diagnosed with Decompensated Hepatic Cirrhosis
Since this journey started Ron has had 22 hospital stays. During Ron's hospital stay on April 2, 2022, he was diagnosed with bleeding varices in his throat and other conditions worsening. (bleeding varices are due to the veins in his throat swelling and bleeding, this is caused by his liver not working properly). He had surgery to stop the bleeding, the doctors banded 7 veins that were bleeding. We almost lost him to internal bleeding from the Varices.
His last hospital stay was on May 8, was due to high ammonia causing severe confusion and intense pain. Due to his condition worsening he was added to the transplant list.
He is currently at home. He is not working or driving during this time. He has many doctor visits coming up for more testing.
Ron diagnosis:
-Decompensated hepatic cirrhosis - due to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease
-Varices in the throat
-Ascites
-Hepatic encephalopathy (liver encephalopathy)
-Decreased platelet count
-Liver encephalopathy
-Type 2 Diabetes
This fundraiser is to help with medical expenses (such as Medication, co-pays), help with gas for Ron's doctor appointments (the hospital is an hour away from our home) and other expenses due to Ron's declining health.
We appreciate all the prayers, donations and support during this difficult time.
