Ron is ready for take off: JET Program.

Hey everyone. I am reaching out today because I have an interview for a job of a lifetime. I got an interview for the JET (Japanese Exchange and Teaching) Program. A cultural exchange that sends Americans and others from English speaking countries to help in Japanese classrooms as ALT, or assistant language teachers, ranging from Elementary to High School. It’s a pretty prestigious gig and competitive job to get into. By getting an interview that means out of 4,000 applicants that applied I am one of 2,000 to be interviewed. If selected I can spend up to 3-5 years in Japan.

Why is this important to me?

I have been working in the ESL field since I was 18 years old and I started as an intern in my hometown of Evanston, Illinois. Over time my passion for teaching and language learning has strengthened and I have been fortunate to volunteer and work in places like Utah and Philadelphia. I am excited to help those who want to learn English, and I bring that enthusiasm into the classroom.

Additionally living and working in Japan has been a dream of mine. Ever since I first studied abroad in Osaka back in 2011, the desire to return to Japan has never quite left my head. Japan is a beautiful country where I feel at home, and to work here in this field will be a benefit.  I am here for my last semester at Temple University, and I am heavily considering next steps after graduation. This is one program I know want to pursue.

How Can You Help/ What is Next?

This process I have been working toward quite some time and an opportunity I do not want to throw away because of a lack of finances. I know I am the perfect candidate for the job. I am asking for financial support with the flight to the U.S. and back, whatever support I gain from this I will cover the difference. It is my responsibility to do what I can, but your support will help ease the cost. Nothing is too small!

Break down due to the current calculation on Google Flights.

Again, I appreciate any help that you can give. I will keep you updated on what is happening.
