On April 11th, after a trip to the Emergency room for severe abdominal pain, Ron was transferred to Regions Hospital where he had emergency surgery. It was found that Ron's colon had burst due to a mass in his rectum. It was determined that Ron had Stage 4 Rectal Cancer that had metastasized to his liver. After 34 days in the hospital and a transitional care facility, Ron was finally able to go home. Ron is currently receiving chemotherapy every other week at New Richmond Hospital Cancer Center. He goes to the infusion center one day and receives two medications and then is sent home for 46 hours hooked up with another medication. Once he has completed 3 months of chemotherapy, he will have another scan and they will determine what the next step will be. This is just the beginning of a long process of chemotherapy, possible radiation, more surgeries and many of doctors visits. This also means many more medical bills. As Ron is a self employed contractor, he is unable to work at this time and has no income coming in. Any contribution to help with medical bills and living expenses is greatly appreciated! Let's help Ron win this battle with cancer!
