Ron Compton's Memorial Bench

Thank you to those who have reached out to offer condolences and inquire on how to support. In lieu of flowers, we would like to extend the option to contribute to the family's plans to install a dedicated bench along one of Ron's favourite walking trails at Sunnyside Acres in South Surrey.

Ron and Fran would frequent this particular trail almost daily, for years, and Ron was always particularly grateful for the many convenient benches along the "Surrey Grind" as he put it. We think it would be especially fitting to pay that forward while paying tribute to Ron.

The City of Surrey has a 'bench donation with dedication' program in place, with starting rates of $2,500 for a standard bench and dedication plaquard. The bench will be installed in Spring 2022, and we will be sure to share the news once it is available.
