Hi all—on October 28, at Piedmont Dragway in NC, Ron crashed his 4.60 index dragbike while in competition. The resulting medical issues are numerous; with at least sixteen fractures involving his hand, arm, and leg, and various invasive medical procedures and surgeries to follow, he has a long and costly recovery ahead. Insurance will cover a portion of this, but his deductible is immense (following cancer surgery and treatment earlier in the year) and he will be out of work for a number of months.
Between the broader racing community and the immense network of friends and associates that Ron has developed over his 67 years, and with his son Ryan handling motorcycle reconstruction costs over the winter, my hope is that we can all work toward getting a living legend in the motorcycle drag racing community healthy and back on the track in 2024.
