Ron and Ryan Zok's Van
Donation protected
Tony Laskowicz of 1st Assured Bail Bonds and Investigations and Terry Nolan of Shoreline Motors are joining forces to raise $15,000 to help a friend in need! We hope you will join us in this admirable cause.
Research shows our goal is what will be necessary to accomplish what we set out to do which is to buy a wheelchair accessible van and vehicle insurance. 100% of money donated will go toward these expenses.
Twenty-seven years ago, Ryan Zok was born with cerebral palsy. Some of those afflicted with this malady have various troubles as they grow up. When Ryan was five years old, his father Ron took on full custody and he has raised him as a single parent. Ron has been by Ryan's side while he has undergone seventeen major surgeries for periodic problems that have developed. Many of these surgeries were literally life or death and possibly the most serious was the placement of a permanent rod in Ryan’s back.
Ron Zok has forsaken full-time employment and dreams of his own to care for his son. He has seen to it that Ryan has had a meaningful life filled with school, sports, activities and lots of friends. For those of us who know Ron, we would probably nominate him for sainthood for the sacrifices he has made for his son. For those of us who know Ryan, his smile is unmistakable and it is about as contagious as a smile can get!
Ron has always transported Ryan in his personal truck for which he has had to physically load him and unloaded him by hand for the last 27 years. Ron is now 55 years old and the rigors of lifting are becoming more and more difficult for him. The idea that the purchase of a wheelchair accessible van could be used to not only allow Ron, but others to help was brought to our attention. Lifting Ryan by hand can be very tricky because of the rod in his back. With a lift, Ron could also get a break as others would finally be able to transport Ryan to his many activities.
Ryan has a dream – to be an entrepreneur running a greeting card company and along with his Dad, continuing to provide wheelchairs at no cost for those in need. Ryan and Ron spend much of their time fixing broken wheelchairs at their non-profit ( pro-bono ) business, “The Wheelchair Barn.” 1st Assured Bail Bonds and Investigations and Terry’s employer, Shoreline Motors, have both pledged donations to get things started. Together, we can all share in making Ron and Ryan’s life a little easier. Thank you.for considering and taking part in this wonderful cause.
