Rom and Terri's Journey: Facing Stage 4 Cancer

Dear Friends and Loved Ones,

This is not an easy message to write, but I want to share what’s been happening in my life for the past few months. At 53 years old, I never imagined facing something like this, but recently, I was diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of bladder cancer that has spread throughout my body—most recently to my brain. This news has been as shocking to me as it has been to my family, and despite undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, the treatment has not been successful. After spending weeks in the hospital, including a difficult stay in the ICU, I am now transitioning to hospice care so I can spend my remaining time at home with my wife, Terri, in a place of love and comfort.

If you know me, you know I have always tried to show up for the people in my life—with a listening ear, a warm smile, and a forgiving heart. Now, I find myself in the hardest chapter of my life, and while I never imagined having to ask for help in this way, I know I can’t do this alone.

The reality of a diagnosis like this is not just emotional but also financial. The mounting medical expenses will leave a heavy burden on my wife, and many have asked how they can help.
