UPDATE pt 2:
Hello everyone, sorry for the delayed update. It’s been a busy and tiring week for us. Romeo went in for his cardiology exam and another chest tap (draining fluid around the lungs) on Thursday the 28th.
We received the results last night. While they may not be the worst result, it’s certainly not the best one either. The results indicate Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM heart disease). The disease is unfortunately in the later stages, ranging from A to D, it is in stage C. So the risk of heart failure is quite high.
While it may not be the news we wanted, Romeo remains in good spirit. He’s regaining his energy slowly and becoming more chatty by the day.
The vet gave us more medication to administer, and wants to run an ECG and potential bloodwork next week to ensure it’s working.
Thank you all once again, from the bottom of our hearts. Your love, well wishes, and donations mean so much. We will continue to update his progress and journey. We also raised the donation goal to reflect the costs incurred.
UPDATE:
We would like to take a quick moment to thank you all who have reached out and have donated so far. Our hearts are full of joy, and we are so so grateful for you all. Wishing all of you much love, and a wonderful Merry Christmas ❤️
Romeo is in better spirits. He’s meowing again, and his breath rate is remaining within normal range, which is a good sign. We will be bringing him back to the vet on Wednesday the 27th for an update. He will also then be booked for a full cardiac exam. We will continue to update!

Hello everyone,
As some of you know, Romeo is a rambunctious, kind hearted cat. So when we noticed his energy levels waning and his fat stores depleting, we took him to the vet.
It was discovered that he had an abundance of fluid built up around his lungs. He had to be sedated and put on oxygen so the vet could drain the fluid. They also ran an xray and ultrasound. The vet observed an irregular heartbeat, on top of his poor heart working too hard from the fluid buildup. Unfortunately, this could indicate heart disease which will need further testing and treatment.
The vet took amazing care of him. However, with the care he received we were met with a bill of $899. The estimated overall cost of his care from yesterday, and incoming tests will be upwards of $2000 dollars.
We know Romeo has touched many of your hearts in some way, so any donation towards his better health will be greatly appreciated. This definitely hits all of us hard as it is also so close to Christmas. We will provide updates as we go through this tough time for our boy.
All we want for Christmas is for our sweet, crazy Romeo to be okay ❤️
